Meet The History Making Women of the United States Congress

2019 is here, and so begins a new era.

An era where as of January 3, 2019, 127 women were sworn into the United States of America Congress. That’s 127 new and different perspectives. That is amazing.

Almost one-third of the United States House of Representatives are now women–an incredible come up from 1989 when there were only 29. And of those 127 women, 25 of those women will serve in the Senate. This has become such an amazing testimony for women and the hard-work that they give. We have come a long way, but we still have so much road before us.

But the beautiful side of it all is, the task to rise is no longer daunting, because now we know it can be done. And that’s something that I find to be incredibly inspiring.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Deb Haaland, Sharice Davids, Jahana Hayes, Kyrsten Sinema…these are only just a few of the women who made history on January 3rd. These are the women who inspire me every day.

And so to these women, I say cheers! Cheers to being fighters, cheers to inspiring so many women and girls across the world, and above all cheers to just being you.

I, among many, cannot wait to see the change you put forth into this world.
